Finally on the Farm…

October 28, 2015

I have been photographing this family for years now, and it never ceases to amaze me just how much love these parents have not only for their wonderful children, but for each other. It is such a joy to spend time with them. We have always done our sessions over the years in the studio (usually with a newborn to keep warm and cozy:), but when I saw their farm a couple years ago, I knew we would eventually be able to get some amazing family portraits, with such a gorgeous location. This week it finally happened, and though it’s late Fall, the weather was beautiful. It was the perfect way to start my week.IMG_0773

Early Morning Smiles…

October 22, 2015

Another near miss on the rain. We could actually see the rain falling in the water just a few feet from us, but not on us. It was quite amazing, and although it was an early start and a cool damp morning, that was not keeping this adorable little one’s spirits down. She was enthralled be all the birds flying by, the snuggles with Mom and Dad, and the rocks:). I can’t wait to meet the new addition to this family, coming soon.

After the Storm…

October 19, 2015

As they were en route to for our session, the downpour began. And I mean downpour!! We decided to see what we could get under the covered porch of the studio, and still get some of that fantastic fall colour that has been so brilliant all week. A few photos in, a miracle….the rain stopped and then the sun even started to creep out. The photos I had planned with this wonderful family went by the wayside, and we used the brilliant storm sky as our background. These folks being the coolest parents around, were totally up for my tentative suggestion of ending with splashing in the puddles. Though it was damp and cold, the kids were all in (Dad even ‘puddle jumped’!!!).  I so love adventurous parents and kids, and a change of plan that works for the better!IMG_8605

Talk about Timing…

October 16, 2015

We managed to get this session just hours  before the ‘kids’ (including a cousin:) headed back to their various Universities after the Thanksgiving break, just after the rain passed (leaving the gorgeous storm clouds for a background) and even managed a family shot on the dock, as the cranes were lifting them out of the water for the winter. It all came together for a great morning session. IMG_7747

Thanksgiving weekend, when all the family gets together, the Autumn colours are splendid, the love and laughter abounds…..it’s the perfect time for a family photo session and we certainly couldn’t have asked for any better weather this past weekend. I had a wonderful time with this bunch, celebrating everyone being together as well as a marriage of 50 years !  As we began to wrap up, an idea to recreate photos taken years ago at the same house struck. I think we all did pretty well, without any notice. It was so much fun playing with those shots.
